An example of defamation:

In Parker v News Group Newspapers Ltd (2005), the former EastEnders actor Chris Parker was paid £50,000 damages by the Sun, after a story falsely claimed that he had been sacked from the soap after refusing to see a psychiatrist. He shortly left the programme.
This is an example of defamation because the act that the newspapers has committed has led to the end of Chris Parker's career and many people would then think of him as a rubbish actor.
