Anchor: You’re listening to flash FM news with your hosts Faizah Islam and Nazrin Khanom. Bringing you the latest news in a flash. Todays headlines are, thieves on mopeds, how safe are you? Spit hood controversy, dangerous or necessary. Teenage grievance, east end school introduces anonymous web chat service. VFX festival kicks off at Rich mix and finally your chance to win tickets at the weekends concert at the O2 .
Do you walk the streets texting or playing games on your mobile? If you are, then the police have one message for you…. STOP! The warning is being made after the fifth mobile phone moped robbery of the month took place on the streets of London this morning. Here’s more in this report from Nuzhat Ahmed.
Nuzhat: 35 year-old Callum Webster was strolling along Bow Road when motorcyclists attacked him. The victim told Flash FM News that he had been using his phone in public view and the men had their eyes set on it.
CUE IN: This moped… CUE OUT: … took off DURATION: 9 seconds

Well, this story may have the answers to help you find the support you need and strategies to help you get through it all. An east end school has introduced a web chat service to allow its student to share their grief anonymously. coping with loss to talk about their grief. Mahfuza Chowdhury has that story.
Mahfuza: Death of a loved one is always difficult to deal with, no matter how old you are. But it can be especially though for young people as we are still trying to make sense of the world. Losing a close friend or family during your school years is likely to take its toll in many ways. But some young people like Tilly don’t have the courage to show their pain.
CUE IN: its been hard...
CUE OUT: ...off of that person.
It’s for this reason that Central Foundation Girls’ School in Bow has started a web chat where young people from any school can speak with professionals about their loss without revealing their identity. The school’s Support Worker, Debbie Townsend, manages the web chat. She advises young people suffering from grief to find someone to talk to, even if it’s not on the web chat.
CUE IN: Not to keep things to themselves… CUE OUT: …harder to deal with. School Support worker, Debbie Townsend. To access the web chat visit the school’s website cfgs.com and click the chat tab.

Anchors: The London Metropolitan Police are investigating reports that a teenager almost died after police used a spit hood on him during an arrest. The 15 year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was released from hospital two weeks ago. Tasnim Ali filed this report.
Tasnim: A Spit hood is a restraint device intended to prevent someone from spitting at or biting the police. The teenager was fitted with one when police arrested him on suspicion of making prank calls on police emergency numbers. He told Flash FM News that the mask put his life at serious risk. CUE IN: I was very uncomfortable.
CUE OUT: … know how I mean? But Police officer Matt Selby says sometimes the spit hood is the only protection the police have.
CUE IN: I have been spat at… CUE OUT: … head and neck Spit hoods have been used on 93 youths under the age of 18 in the last five years.
There have been previous calls for them to be banned. Whatever the outcome of the investigation into this case is, this fresh incident is sure to restart the debate about the safety of spit hoods. This is Tasnim Ali reporting for Flash FM News.

Head on down to the VFX festival currently underway at the Rich Mix Cultural Foundation in Bethnal Green. Our talented techie teen reporter Noshin is there checking out the geeks and the gadgets.
Noshin: The Rich Mix is abuzz with a range of sounds, sights and smells I am surrounded by hundreds of video gamers and creative animators. The event includes a variety of gaming and animation specialists. They are providing youngsters with the opportunity to get into the gaming and animation industry. I have with me … What is the VFX festival about? What opportunities are there in the industry for young people listening right now? Cue In: Cue Out: Thank you. Well let’s find out how young people feel about that. (Name) is 16 years old... What brings you here today? What’s the best skill you have and where do you hope it will take you?

Chosen clip from my interview
I edited out the long pauses and irrelevant things that I believe my target audience doesn't need to listen to or any parts that won't benefit them in any way. This is my chosen clip because it answers all the questions that I asked the child support worker in one go and it summarises it all.
Re-Attempt At Recording My Interview
From this second attempt at recording the interview with the child support worker, Debbie Townsend, I have improved a lot of things within the recording.
I have used a dictaphone instead of my own phone to record the interview this time round. This led to the interviewee and interviewer's voices to be clearer than before and less muffled. The dictaphone's mic is omnidirectional, allowing the voices to be clear and well heard.
Furthermore, I introduced my self, my story and where I am from at the beginning because my target audience feedback said to do this to make my recording better.
Also, her answers to my questions were more simp lied, summarised and clearer.
What I learnt from the interview:
There are many places to go to help when you are grieving or if you have lost a loved one. For example, the school that you attend may provide extra support academically, physically and emotionally.
Also, if you are going through a rough time, you shouldn't keep it in and keep it to yourself because telling someone else or someone you trust, like a friend or teacher, may help to relieve some tress and anxiety that you have.

VFX FESTIVAL
I went with Noshin to the VFX festival to help her record.
I was holding the microphone whilst she was doing her role as the outside reporter for the outside broadcast.
By doing this, I achieved to get a clear omnidirectional sound of Joseph (the person we interviewed).

Trip to Berlin
On the 3rd of February 2017 I went on a trip to Berlin, Germany.
During the trip we visited the Berlin Film Museum and a Television Studio. I gained a lot of skills, knowledge and experience from this trip. In the Berlin Film Museum we learnt about the history of film and how it has adapted. We learnt about the different editing techniques and CGI that has developed since the start of films.
In the TV Studio, our tour guide, Christina, taught us about the history of television and the industry, and I learnt how there was a time where nobody really watched TV because of the War that happened. Furthermore we learnt about how green screens and blue screens can be used in order to create an artificial atmosphere to suit the type of programme that you are creating. The TV studio we went to is the second largest television studio in Berlin. There are thousands of cameras which are hung from the ceiling when recording a live show which capture every angle and composition of screen. I learnt that live shows don't fully go onto air directly, they go on a few seconds later because hundreds of editors are sitting at their seats waiting to crop out something inappropriate that and audience member or host might say. The editors have a large separate room and have different types of controls everywhere. They can cut off a scene of the camera and stop one recording if they want to.
We also learnt that shows that are based in the studio are not a real place. Most of the mise-en-scene is created out of wood or cardboard and there is a secret alleyway that the audience members have to come through.

Asking a professional journalist for tips on my story
This interview with the journalist helped me develop skills and understanding in order to be a professional reporter. I found out the conventions of a human interest story - which is what my story is about. I can use these conventions in my final product. The tips she gave will also help me to improve the content of my story and how I produce it as a whole. It has been a beneficial experience.

Production Group Logo
This is our Logo for our radio news station. I was given the task of being in charge of designing the logo for our group. It is called Flash News, with the slogan "giving you your news in a flash". We chose this slogan because we wanted it to be short, catchy and related to our logo. It also gives an idea about our radio news station to people; they will know that our news stories / headlines will be quick and flashy. The reason why I used the lighting sign for the 'S' in"Flash" was to represent how quickly our radio news station can provide it's audience with information about recent evens and information. The font is in "AR JULIAN" and it is in the colour black. My aim for the logo was to make it look formal as well as attractive and memorable, which is why I used a simple readable font and colour.
As a group, we decided that this was a good idea and discussed the positives and negatives about this Logo. A negative for example, would be that you can't print the logo on yellow paper otherwise the flash sign would not show. However the positives over-ruled the negatives as we hardly found any other negatives, and therefore decided that this logo was perfect for our radio news station.

Update: New Draft Script
Anchor:
Young people have been coping with the loss of loved ones.
But how?
Here's Mahfuza with more on this.
Mahfuza:
Young people are undervalued and unheard of.
What are actually going on in their minds?
The NHS says that many people feel different feelings after
they have lost a loved one; sadness, anger, shock, anxiety, not eating, not
sleeping and many more different feelings.
The National Statistics says that over 70% of primary
schools have at least one child on roll who had been bereaved of someone
important to them. All schools will be affected by bereavement at some point. I
spoke to Emma Townsend, a child support worker from a secondary school in east
London
CUE IN: what do you…
CUE OUT: … that’s it really.
DUR:
Emma Townsend
Lots of support is available out there in the world. I
spoke to a student who had lost a loved one to get information about her
feelings. She made some strong points.
CUE IN: how do you…
CUE OUT: …Cherish them…
DUR:
Student
If you're having a bad time or have lost someone close
to you, you can call FLASH FM on 09876 or call the NHS support line on 0844 477
9400.

Update: Changing my story
I've changed my story to 'how do young people cope with the loss of loved ones' because I could not get hold of anyone that I was going to make an interview with.
I will be interviewing a Child Support Worker and a person who has gone through bereavement instead.

My audio files list
Main background music for our newscast is an upbeat , catchy theme tune to attract my intended target audience. They would hear the sound and think it's interested and continue to listen.
Headlines: motorbike speeding sound FX for the second story in our newscast (Mopeds)
the transition sound between each headline in a smash to connote the changing of one story to another.
Tasnim's story (1st story on Spithoods) has no music or background music as it is hard news and silence is needed n order to reach our intended target audience properly.
Nuzhat's ( second story on Mopeds) story has the sound FX of a car screeching and the background music at the beginning should sound interesting and aimed at a young audience - not too upbeat as it is a serious story.
My story: sad/piano music to sympathise as my story is a soft story. it is silent when I will insert the audio of the school support worker
The transition from my story which leads into to Noshin's VFX festival story has gaming sound FX and a virtual type music background.
She has no music during her story as it is an outside broadcast.
Semiotics;
Whilst each headline is being read out for each story, each story will have its own sound FX. For example, Nuzhat's story of theft would have a smashing glass sound FX and maybe the sound of a racing motorbike because Mr. Macintosh almost got robed from someone on a Moped. These sounds would be the symbols of her story.
My story would have no sound FX as it's a soft story.
Interactivity at the end of the broadcast should include a Weeknd instrumental as the competition is for a concert at the o2 to watch the Weeknd.
Uses and gratification theory would link to this as our audience members would listen to our radio newscast for entertainment, information and for escapism. They may want to hear it to get more information about their local area too.
The sound effects would link to the hypodermic needle theory as the audience members would automatically assume that the sound FX and the story relating would be interesting and is important.

*Music fades in*
Concerns have been raised by a group of students in Tower Hamlets about
safety within schools. Their concern follows the death of a teenaged
boy at Bow School in the borough.
14 year-old Nasar Ahmed died from an asthma attack while in detention at school.
Now, his peers, are asking whether there was enough done to prevent his
death. We hear more in this report from Mahfuza.
Me:
Nasar was put in detention after “intentionally” tripping over a bin as
his teacher put it. CCTV footage shows Nasar pleading for forgiveness and to
let him off detention.
The teacher didn’t think otherwise and kept Nasar in
detention. Shortly, Nasar’s skin conditions became worse and he started
suffering from an asthma attack. Nasar was taken to Royal London Hospital
by ambulance where he spent four days in intensive care but passed away on
Monday afternoon.
There's one question that everyone's asking: who is actually accountable
of Mr. Ahmed’s death?
The CDC says that most school-associated deaths occur during transition
times – before and after the school day and during lunch.
