Primary research: VoxPOP

Noshin and I went out and asked some members of our target audience the basic and main questions that needed to be answered in order to make our perfect radio newscast. Our first question to our target audience was "which radio station do you listen to the most?" Many had said Capital FM and BBC radio 1. This certifies that BBC radio 1 and Capital FM are our main radio stations that we are competing with. It also allows us to contemplate on how we would make our radio newscast more successful and fitting for our audience. The fact that a couple of people said they don't listen to the radio was expected from within our age range of our target audience, because nowadays teens are more engaged in social media such as Snapchat and Instagram. This links onto my next post, where a member of Flash FM (Tasnim)asks which social media platforms will be useful for us to promote our radio newscast. Some of these people, predominantly, find radio news "boring" as one of our target audience has stated. However they did say we should talk about a variety of topics to make it newsworthy and entertaining at the same time. Overall, a majority of people said they would listen to news about crime in the local area, so this will be our focus point in order to make our radio newscast successful.
